Sewing 101
Join our Sewing 101 class for a fun and informative introduction to the world of sewing! During this 4-hour session you'll learn essential skills like winding a bobbin, threading and operating a sewing machine, and understanding those puzzling knobs. We’ll cover machine basics, troubleshooting, and practice a variety of stitches including straight stitch, zig-zag, decorative stitches, backstitching, and topstitching. Plus, you'll get hands-on experience crafting a set of denim coasters using repurposed materials. By the end of class, you'll leave with at least one finished coaster and everything you need to make a full set of four.
With only 6 participants, this small-group class ensures plenty of personal attention. You’re encouraged to bring your own electric sewing machine (and its foot pedal), but we do have a few available to lend on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need to borrow one, please contact Brooke at brooke@brookelane.com. Also, bring along any bobbins, manuals, and fabric scissors you may have. While a sewing kit is useful, it’s not required!
